On April 11th, The Colbert County FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) organization set off to Birmingham for the regional competition. They had spent months to train and prepare their students for this year’s competition. The competition is designed for students from grades 9th-12th to utilize their skills and compete amongst other schools within their category, thereby enhancing their skills and confidence. The 10 students who were selected to go participated in various workshops and group activities, learning new skills and methods that can help their future. The competition lasted a total of three days however, Friday was the “most exciting day” one student said. The final day of the competition was the awards ceremony, and also a great day for the Colbert County FBLA Organization. Out of the numerous schools that went to compete, Colbert County had three students place and be eligible for nationals.

This year’s national competition will be held in Baltimore, Maryland from June 26-July 2. The students who are eligible to go and compete are: Charnell Reynolds (Second Place in Public Speaking), Gabe Cochran (Third Place in Publication Design), and Madison Dickens (Fourth place in Introduction to Business Procedures). These three students are ranked out of the entire state and will go to Baltimore to compete for the Alabama team in their division. We would like to congratulate all of the these students and their educators for their hard work and sacrifices. We would also like to thank the school and community for helping raise money, through concerts and other events, for these students to go and compete. Thanks to all the support, the Colbert County FBLA organization is able to give students such amazing opportunities as these.
