School pride was a major motivator for Ashlyn Brown, Kara Johnson, Madison Dickens, and Aubrey McCravy-- Varsity Cheerleaders who felt it was time for a makeover. But not just any makeover, a gymnasium makeover. The cheerleaders knew it was well overdue for the “Old Gym” to be updated. During Spring Break, these girls sacrificed their time and organized for the gym to be cleaned up and repainted. With the help of donors and extra helpers, the goal was quickly accomplished.
Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders use the gym two to three times a week for practice and during the summer for UCA Cheer Camp. The gym has been in poor condition for many years, and it was time for something to be done. “We wanted to redo it to give everyone a more enjoyable environment for practices, especially since we are in there so much. Other people use the gym besides us, so we wanted to make it look nicer and more welcoming,” said Varsity Cheerleader, Kara Johnson, who helped organize the makeover.
The Colbert County High School cheerleaders would like to thank Principal Melcha Satchel, Kelly Berry and Sherwin Williams of Muscle Shoals for their generous donations, along with anyone else who helped or donated supplies.
