Florence READS

Florence Reads

The READS program encourages reading through events that inspire student readers and provide public recognition for reading achievements. The program hosts two events, a Spirit Night and a Recognition Night, for partnering elementary schools in malls across the United States. Run by local business sponsors and Hull Property Group, a retail real estate company specializing in enclosed shopping malls, all events are at no cost to participating schools as a community-based marketing initiative that brings families to the mall in support of local reading success.

Florence’s Spirit Night will be on Tuesday, September 19th and Recognition Night will be on Tuesday, May 15th.

This year’s theme is “An Underwater Adventure” and is ocean-based. For Spirit Night, we will have 4-5 stations that children can visit and participate in games. They can then turn these game sheets in for prizes! Along with the games, there will also be a book raffle that children can sign up for, and a photo booth that allows kids to be mermaids or mermen. Plus, for every student that turns in a voucher—vouchers will be attached to the bottom of the Spirit Night invitations that will be sent to schools to send home with students—we will donate $1 back to the school’s library! So if 100 students from Leighton attend Spirit Night, then your library will receive a $100 check from us! This is all determined by how many vouchers are turned in, and ultimately the turnout for the event. So be sure to hype up your students and parents to attend the event so that way your school and students get the most out of the event.
