Mr. Anthony Olivis joined Cherokee Elementary School (CES) as the principal in June 2016 and this is his fourth year as a Cherokee Elementary School Indian.  Mr. Olivis is committed to serving CES and strives to provide a high quality of education.  He feels the cornerstone of a child's success lies within the joint partnership of home and school and in providing a child with a safe and nurturing environment while providing a challenging curriculum to grow from.

Upon Mr. Olivis' graduation from high school, he entered into the United States Army.  After approximately 9 years as an active-duty soldier, he enlisted into the United States Army Reserve.  At the same time, he enrolled into Northwest Shoals Community College and later transferred to Athens State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  He later enrolled in the University of North Alabama and earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration.

Mr. Olivis has served as an educator in varying capacities for the past 20+ years.  Positions he has held within the Colbert County School System include; teacher, assistant principal, principal (both elementary and high school) and superintendent.  If you were to ask Mr. Olivis which position he enjoyed or enjoys the most, he would tell you, "Without a doubt, being an elementary school principal is the best job in the world."  He is one that truly enjoys his job.
