¡Hola! My name is Joshua Balta and I am the Spanish teacher at Cherokee High School, Colbert County High School, and Colbert Heights High School. I graduated from Colbert Heights High School in 2010. I went on to study at the University of North Alabama, and earned a BA in Spanish. I also hold two minors: International Studies and Latin American Studies. I am currently seeking my Master's Degree in Spanish Education at the University of North Alabama. I have had the opportunity to travel to six Spanish-speaking countries: Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Cuba, Perú, and España (Spain). Through my travels I have come to love the Spanish language, and the people and the culture of these countries.
I have been married to my wife, Jade, for seven years, and we have five children together: Cayne, Skyler, Layla, Braylon, and Harper.
I grew up in North Carolina for much of my childhood before moving to Alabama during high school. I enjoy sports with basketball, football, baseball/softball, and soccer being my favorites. In addition, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to travel as well. I would like to visit each Spanish-speaking country at some point in my life.
