I have lived in the Colbert Heights area my entire life, and I am overjoyed to be teaching at Colbert Heights High. After graduating from CHHS in 2006, I immediately began coaching JV Football while attending the University of North Alabama. I currently only coach B-Team basketball. I am also the senior high English Scholar's Bowl sponsor.
One of my major roles here on campus is that of Theatrical Arts Director. Outside of teaching theatre in the classroom, I have the privilege of directing our school productions each Fall and Spring. We have so many talented students here! Check out the Theatre Arts page for more information.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English/Language Arts in December of 2011, and I received my Master's of Arts in English in May of 2018. I plan to continue my studies and pursue a doctoral degree.
I have a beautiful wife whom I adore. We have a beautiful little baby boy who is the joy of our lives, Langston Huck Herring. We had our second child, Linc Tennyson Herring, in June of 2019. We have two wonderful (although sometimes rambunctious) dogs at home--Claire and Caite.
I am also a published playwright! I co-wrote Christmas with the Kingstons a few years back with my sister, and in 2012 we were published! It is pretty great to say that I have been published, and I hope this is not the last time.
In my spare time (which is little), I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife, family, and friends, as well as cooking, woodworking, and reading a good book. I look forward to a great school year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
It is my goal and my passion to help students excel academically. I want students to be proud of where they come from and understand that their situation does not define them. I fully believe that if students work hard, they can become whatever they aspire to be. I want to open their eyes and help them see that they can be as successful as they want to be--just as many students from CHHS have done before.
